Caledonian MacBrayne - The main Scottish west coast ferry operator - Better known as CalMac. Operate vessels from the 101 metre Isle of Lewis to the 22 metre Eigg.
Western Ferries -Run a every 20 minute service on the Hunters Quay - McInroy's Point route - main rivals of CalMac.
Northlink - Operate the majority of services to Orkney & the Shetlands. Owned by the government & CalMac. The Northlink ships are the biggest passenger vessels in everyday use in the north of Scotland.
Argyle & Bute Council - Operate the sevice from Port Askaig (Islay) to Feolin (Jura) using the MV Eilean Dhiura .
Clyde Marine Motoring - Run the Kilgregan - Gourock- Helensburgh service on behalf of SPT using there own MV Seabus. Also own a variety of other ships ranging from luxury vessels like the Cruiser to tiny little tugs like the Fencer.
Shetlands Island Council - This company operate 12 vessels on the lifeline service from Shetland to the nearby islands. They use 14 terminals and 8 islands. Vessels range from the 1975 built Fora to the 2004 built Dagalien.
Orkney Ferries - This company operate the lifeline service from mainland Orkney to the close by islands. They run 7 services using 10 vessels.
Pentland Ferries - Run the St Margaret's Hope - Gill's Bay service using the Claymore & Pentalina B. New catamaran Pentalina is currently on her delivery voyage from the Philipines after being stuck in Oman for a long amount of time.
John O'Gorats Ferry - Run the John O'Groats - Burwick (Orkney) route using the Pentalina.
Atlantic Ferries - Run the Shetland - Foula route using the vessel New Advance. This is probably one of the wildest ferry crossing in the whole of the British Isles.
Mousa Boat Trips - Using the Solan IV, they run the route form Sandwick & Leebitton - Mousa.
Highland Council - The short crossing over the Corran Narrows is operated by the Highland Council. The small, double-ended vessel MV Corran serves this sometimes busy route well.
Argyll & Bute Council - A&B Council Operate a number of short crossings around their area, notably the Jura ferry and the Ferry to Esdale from Ellenbach.
